Transthoracic Echocardiography

Transthoracic Echocardiography / Echcardiogram in Hawaii

When we need to get a better view of our Hawaii patients heart and its structure, Transthoracic Echocardiogram is usually the first step.

Transthoracic Echocardiography or sometimes referred to as an ECHO is an ultrasound of your heart. During a Transthoracic Echocardiogram, a small ultrasound transducer is placed on your chest wall, allowing for visualization of a 2-dimensional picture of the heart. This ultrasound will give quick and accurate assessment of the heart anatomy, heart valves and muscle contraction. If combined with an exercise portion of a stress test, a stress transthoracic echocardiogram is a reliable test to evaluate coronary artery disease.
