Transesophageal Echocardiography

Transesophageal Echocardiogram / Echo in Hawaii

When its necessary that better or more detailed pictures of our Hawaii patient's heart structures are needed sometimes a Transesophageal Echocardiography is a procedure that will be ordered.

During a Transesophageal Echocardiography a Transesophogeal Echocardiogram, also known as an ultrasound of the heart, is used. In this instance, a small ultrasound probe, approximately the size of an endoscope, is inserted into the esophagus and stomach which are located just behind the heart. This allows for an unobstructed view of the heart in a 2-dimensional view. Transesophogeal Echocardiogram is usually needed in order to gather greater details of the heart anatomy.

Please contact our Hawaii office for more information about the echocardiography and echocardiogram.
