Intravascular Ultrasound

Intravascular Ultrasound / IVUS in Hawaii

An Intravascular Ultrasound or IVUS is a technique used during a coronary angiography.

During the procedure your Hawaii cardiologist inserts a small probe measuring less than 1 mm in diameter into the heart artery through small tubes and catheters. These Intravascular Ultrasound images provide an accurate look at the amount of plaque build-up. Intravascular Ultrasound is of particular use to guide coronary angioplasty procedures when stents are inserted, as it allows most accurate deployment of those devices in to your heart arteries.

If you are a Hawaii resident and feel a IVUS might help you or a loved one be sure to contact our Hawaii office to schedule a consultation.
