Coronary Angioplasty / Stenting

Coronary Angioplasty / Stenting Procedure in Hawaii

If your Hawaii cardiologist sees blockages or plague in your heart arteries during a cardiac catherterzation then coronary angioplasty or stenting my need to be done.

Coronary angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure to treat atherosclerosis, blockages of heart arteries. Just like the cardiac catherazation, during coronary angioplasty or stenting a small heart stent also known as catheters or tubes are inserted through the leg or arm. However these heart stents are equipped with a balloon at the tip and are guided into the blocked heart artery. Following inflation of those balloons, this displaces the plaque material into the artery wall and sometimes stents are inserted. These heart stents are made out of a mesh of metal and are used to hold the artery open.

Coronary angioplasty and the use of heart stents is one of the standards used to treat coronary artery disease or blockages in your heart arteries. Contact our Hawaii office to schedule an appointment.
